It’s amazing how quickly trends emerge. Right now, it’s all about our 21 Under 21 stars heading to Top 20 clubs. No surprise there—they’re the best for a reason.
First, we saw stand-out starlet Archie Gray move south to Spurs. Now, Ronnie Edwards has signed for Southampton, with his new club’s social media team praising him as “Young, Talented, and Experienced.” That’s not a contradiction. With 121 EFL appearances, he’s already shown plenty. For context, Harry Maguire had 134 EFL appearances before moving to Hull… didn’t work out too badly for him.
We love discussing these players and their journeys, but the clock is ticking. The transfer window stops for no man, woman or club. And we've got another 52 signings to share today.
Kayden Jackson (RW/ST) - [Ipswich - Derby] - Free
Played an important support role in Ipswich's double promotion — 70% of his appearances came off the bench. Valued for his excellent physical attributes (speed and athleticism) and work rate, the technical side of the game is his weakness, but Paul Warne is the right manager to appreciate Jackson's set of skills. Great for open, transitional matches.
Jerry Yates (ST) - [Swansea - Derby] - Loan
Yates joins up with Paul Warne, the manager who gave him his first league start at Rotherham seven years ago. After 14 goals in 41 games for Blackpool in 22/23, he didn’t exactly convince Swansea fans last season despite notching 8 goals all inside the box. Yates was at his best when drifting wide and picking up spaces that could hurt opponents in transition, something he could reprise in a new situation with his old gaffer. “Transition” — the Derby watchword today.
Joe Rodon (CB) - [Tottenham - Leeds] - Undisclosed
