Let’s not waste time on an intro when there are some BIG DEALS to get to – starting with LouOrns on Anis Mehmeti’s transfer from Bristol City to Ipswich…

🟢 Anis Mehmeti (FW) - [Bristol City - Ipswich] - Undisclosed (reported £3m)

This is a real statement signing from Ipswich as they push for an immediate return to the Premier League. Mehmeti has been one of the Championship’s standout attackers this season, registering eight goals and six assists in 28 appearances.

With Jaden Philogene injured and Clarke the only natural option on the left, the 25-year-old fills a need. He brings direct 1v1 ability and fits the profile Kieran McKenna likes in that role: comfortable holding the width, but equally dangerous drifting inside to shoot and score. Under Gerhard Struber at Bristol City, Mehmeti was given freedom rather than being fixed to the touchline, and he regularly found pockets to receive the ball and drive at defenders. Ipswich should benefit from that flexibility.

The move also weakens a potential play-off rival, which never hurts. For a reported £3m fee, Ipswich are getting a player who can make an immediate impact, has already shown he can be one of the division’s best, and looks increasingly capable of stepping up again. Mehmeti’s improvement in decision-making over the past 18 months has been noticeable, and that makes this feel like more than just a short-term fix.

An alternative view on the transfer within a broader context…

🟠 Kieran Dowell (AM) - [Rangers - Hull] - Undisclosed

Dowell sometimes has the look of a player who coasts through matches, and because of that, he divides opinion. Stylistically, it can be argued that he’ll be an ill fit for Hull’s transitional playing style – but on the other hand, if they can carry him and get him on the ball in the final third, he may even add to their shot-heavy numbers.
