Final Day Permutations
Andy Watson walks us through all the key permutations for final day - plus the wider NTT20.COM team have input their predictions for every game.
Championships, promotions, play-off places and relegations will all be confirmed on final day. Andy Watson picks up the baton for the final push, with a guide to the runners, riders and every fence.
Oh, and we thought we’d ask a panel of Ali Maxwell, George Elek, Huw Davies, Sam Parry, Matt Watts, Craig Bradley and, of course, Andy himself to share their predictions for each of the key fixtures, to plot out who finishes where.
CHAMPIONSHIP
The title
Coventry were officially crowned champions last week.
Automatic promotion
Ipswich are in the driving seat but they will likely need to beat QPR, as Millwall have a favourable fixture at home to 22nd-placed Oxford. The Tractor Boys could’ve sealed promotion on Tuesday night (barring a 19-goal swing on final day, anyway), but a 2-2 draw with Southampton means they’ll be vulnerable if they don’t win tomorrow.
Millwall are 3rd, and their chances of automatic promotion depend on whether Ipswich win. If they don’t, the Lions are in prime position to take advantage. They must beat Oxford, though – if Ipswich lose and Millwall draw, Ipswich will remain ahead of them on goal difference.
That last scenario would leave both clubs at the mercy of Middlesbrough. Boro travel to Wrexham knowing that only a win will give them a chance, and that their route to automatic promotion relies upon Millwall dropping points and Ipswich losing, or Ipswich drawing while Boro thump Wrexham to pass them on goal difference.
