Thomas-Asante, Barry, Colwill – the 32 latest EFL signings
NTT20's Summer Transfer Bulletin brings you every signing in the EFL, in detail, in your inbox, every Monday and Thursday.
The Summer Transfer Bulletin is brought to you by Ali Maxwell, George Elek, Huw Davies, Sam Parry, Craig Bradley and Matt Watts. The introduction is by Craig Bradley.
The transfer window moves fast. It’s volatile. It’s relentless. As soon as you think you’ve got a handle on its performance, it comes up and bites you.
Within moments of Huw’s column being published on Friday morning, highlighting arrivals from 29 different countries, Bolton announced Hungarian Szabolcs Schön, taking the number to 30.
After just 17 transfers between Monday noon and Thursday noon, we allowed ourselves to think business was easing off, slowing down a notch. The transfer window was clearly offended by that – within 36 hours of Thursday’s bulletin, another 26 deals had been signed off, with another handful completed over the weekend.
While EFL clubs were occupied with negotiating transfers and finalising their pre-seasons, Ali and George were busy recording the much-anticipated 1-24s. It’s EFL Christmas, and we hope you are as excited as we are.
Championship
Danny Batth (CB) - [Norwich - Blackburn] - Free
An experienced Championship centre half with leadership credentials, Danny Batth joins Blackburn on a one-year deal. The former Wolves and Stoke man only made five starts for Norwich last season, but he started 39 games for Sunderland in 22/23. A potential back three of Batth, Dom Hyam and Kyle McFadzean would win plenty of aerial duels, but don't expect them to be defending on the halfway line!
Andreas Weimann (FW) - [Bristol City - Blackburn] - Free
In a squad that lacks plenty, the one thing Blackburn aren't short of is expereinced leaders and tone setters. Weimann is another addition that fits that bill. Unfortunately though Weimann has been on the decline for the past season or two and now represents more value in the dressing room than he does on the pitch. It looks certain to be a season of struggle for Rovers and they are putting a lot of eggs in the 'good character' basket.
Brandon Thomas-Asante (ST) - [West Brom - Coventry] - Undisclosed
