Not The Top Table (4 November 2025)
Every Tuesday NTT20.COM brings you updated xG form tables for the Championship, League One and League Two.
Welcome to Not The Top Table.
Only the Championship has had a full slate of games since last week’s tables, with two fixtures in League One and one in League Two, so there won’t be significant shifts in form across the third and fourth tiers. But what a weekend in the Championship it was.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to share thoughtful comments, about not just how we present the 5-match/10-match/running-total tables, but also what other data you’d like to see in the future.
Lots of great ideas came through. The first improvement we’ve made is to rank the tables by xG Ratio, making it clearer — especially for those reading via email — to get a quick sense of the numbers.
Speaking of email: the functionality of these tables is limited in that format. To get the most out of them, visit this page in your browser or the Substack app, where you’ll be able to sort each column and explore the data more easily.
That’s all for now!
[5 game] The top line is a Southampton slide that has cost Will Still his job.
[5 game] Blades being 3rd for xG Ratio despite back-to-back defeats and 6 goals conceded in two games is rather eye-catching.
[10 game] And then there’s Hull: giving up almost double their xG in xGA whilst finding themselves P10 W5 D3 L2 Pts 18.
We’d love to hear your thoughts!
Not The Top Table represents our first foray into publishing data. If you’re reading this, you’re probably a reader of NTT20.COM and a listener to the pod. You know that we love data. And we suspect, you’ll have great ideas to help us polish and refine what we’re doing. Perhaps you have an idea about other tables we might publish in future? If so, please share your thoughts with us - thank you!

Love to see this! I read a similar xG table article from Michael Caley the other day who had some great ideas with regards to fixture schedule / red card influence etc. which might be a good read if you haven't already!
I like this feature. One thing, on substance I can't seem to scroll down. E.g. Trying to find my club Crewe is possible. But I don't know how far down the lost they are and where they compare to the bottom sides.
